Atkins Diet Phase 4

"Long Term Results With Atkins Diet..."

It only takes a short period of time following Atkins diet to learn that the system is all about phases.  The phases are used so the dieter can move quickly into the fat loss stage.

You do this while building up your natural limit of carbohydrate intake to a level that will allow weight loss.

This can happen quickly if you carefully follow through the first two phases.  Those phases cover a time period of about four week, perhaps more, depending upon your body type.

What can you expect from the second part of the Atkins program?

The first two phases help you determine how many carbohydrates you can consume and still lose weight.  For most people 40 to 60 grams of carbs are an acceptable amount.

Dr. Atkins calls the third phase of the plan the 'Pre-Maintenance" phase.  By that point you have established what kinds of foods you can and cannot eat to maintain your body weight.

Now you can add 10 grams of net carbs per day to your meals.  If you don't add them daily you can consume 20 to 30 grams twice a week.  This allows you to splurge on an occasional special meal.

You can only add those carbs if you closely monitor you weight and remove some carbs if you begin gaining pounds.

When the weight loss stops, decrease the daily carb intake by up to 10 grams until you start losing weight again.

'Lifetime maintenance phase' is Phase 4 and that is the final phase.  Now you have finally reached your ideal weight.

You are at the point where you will have a wider selection of food for your daily meals.  Although you still need to monitor your carbohydrate consumption and maintain an active lifestyle, you can have up to 100 grams of net carbs per day without gaining any weight.

By the time you have reached this point in the Atkins program, you are finally in a position to know exactly how many carbohydrates that you can have.  You'll understand exactly what kinds of foods that you can eat, and still maintain your weight while enjoying the benefits of eating healthy.

Atkins four phases are easy to understand and work beautifully if you will simply follow them.  You might even work some serotonin into your diet for appitite control...
